The 2024 call of the Multilateral Academic Projects (MAPS) program by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) received 334 proposals, out of which 29 were funded. The Proton DREAMS project was one of them and received approximately 1 M CHF in research funding from the Swiss National Science Foundation, the Bulgarian Ministry of Education and Science, and the Executive Agency for Higher Education, Research, Development and Innovation Funding, Romania. The project started on 1 July 2025, with a duration of four years.
